A relationship between a client and counsellor/therapist is one of utmost privacy. It is well protected in legal terms.

 Information cannot be disclosed without the written consent of the client. Two exceptions apply, however. They are: 


1. If there is suspected child abuse or elderly abuse.

2. If there is any indication that a person is contemplating or involved in the process of inflicting self-harm onto himself/herself.

 

All client-based documentation will be held in a confidential location as provided by the therapist. During the first session, these topics will be discussed with the client.
